Moder cloth nappies, all things sewing

A cousin’s birthday apron and a new skirt for the dance 19/05/2009

Once again I have been so happily crafty. With Z going over to a friend’s house for the morning and J deciding that sleep is a good thing I had an extra hour to get busy (who cares about the floors being filthy?)

I have been working on a cooking apron for the last week, I have put a lot of time and thought into this one as I think ALL girls need a cooking apron and I know how much Z loves to wear hers. I made this one without a pattern just gathering sizings from Z’s.

I am TOTALLY proud of the end result and hope that Z’s little cousin has many happy baking memories in it.IMG_5131

Here is Zahara modelling it…I decided to add a frill to the bottom, I think it just finishes it off more!IMG_5122

We have been living here for 2 years now and I have been busting to go along to these ‘old time’ dances they have advertised not too far from us, but as always their is always something else on. Well this weekend, although we are terribly busy, we are biting the bullet and going. Naturally I went into imagination overdrive WHAT CAN I SEW!!!

Last night I made Z this beautiful little skirtIMG_5127I am yet to hem it…..boring!

SO I have a HUGE list now. I am needing (wanting) to have us all go to the dance in home made item/s. I have to make myself a twirl skirt (thinking of cutting out the sleeves of D’s older business shirts to do this) and D a pair of John Travolta dancing pants and the baby too naturally!

Happy days

Sew very addicted! 15/05/2009

I am so very excited! And so very addicted….to sewing that is!

Everywhere I look their is another sewing opportunity and I am flustered with sew much to do and sew little time. The minute the kiddies are asleep I literally run to the sewing machine and start to create, poor Husband! At least it has spurred him on to learn some more guitar tunes and we are physically in the same room and talking when the machine is not running or the guitar strumming!

I have completed a beautiful little dress for Zahara…her material choice, hippiness is bred into her!

And when we went to ‘the big shops’ as Zahara calls anything more then our piddly little shops here, I went NUTS and got some the most beautiful and funky materials, I made some new undies last night

 IMG_5111

I also made Husband some cotton boxers from the sheet I made myself a pair of pants from. Zahara thought it was so very wonderful! A matching Mummy and Daddy.

Mother’s Day was a beautiful day as always, I am a very lucky Mummy and wife, this Mother’s day was by far the happiest ever with 6 arms firmly wrapped around me.IMG_5088

I was spoilt with a yummy breakfast out and take away dinner watching the the full moon rise over the ocean……how cute is my little family!

So on the list to still creat:

Husband is in need of more boxer shorts, I have made him a pair from the same material as my recycled sheet pants..so cute we have matching pants from a sheet!

A cousin is turning 4 next week, I think a cooking apron would be lovely

more undies for me and my post 3rd baby butt!

And of course more pants for the baby…I love to make little pants

here’s my materials to choose from…YUMMY!!

sorry about how terrible my shots are, I so desperately would love a new camera, dreaming!!!!

What a busy (dramatic!) time we have been having! 10/05/2009

They say bad things come in 3…well we are done
1. My husband looks like he has contracted Ross River Fever from a mosquito bite (waiting on bloods to confirm!)
2. We all (minus the baby….good old breastmilk!) had the 24 hour vomitting bug and finally
3 Little Zahara fell from the slippery slide and broke her arm! Here she is the following day at a friend’s birthday party…life goes on!IMG_5087

And for this little friend’s birthday present Zahara and I had lots of fun creating a personalised flag banner for him

In other things creative I have been just loving converting things old into things new….I took this shirt that I got in a $5 clothing bin and made little J a pair of funky duds from the sleeves. literally a 5 minute sewing job

from this

IMG_5081How very cute are they! and I have enough laterial to make something else…not sure what!

I have been busy creating a number of other things, some to sell, some to give and some to keep….I will have to post them ASAP…..headbands, skirt to pants, cushions and EVEN a pretty sling for Z! LOL!!!!

For now I will leave it there and get this tired little soul of mine to sleep

Today is a rainy day and after lunch we are off to the local show…..how to keep a 4 year old sane between now and then? A bag full of ’scraps’ (I am reluctent to call them scraps as I use almost all my materials in some way!).img_5043

And a MUCH loved baby doll who is celebrating her birthday today (again!). So Zahara made her doll a little ball out of ’scrap’ fabric and stuffed it with more scraps! She was quite proud of herself and painted a birthday card and put it into an envelope

Now how to fill in the next three hours?
